The film had its world premiere at the World Cinema Competition section of the 2025 Sundance Film Festival on 23 January, where it won the section’s Audience Award

Synopsis
DJ Ahmet is a 2025 film about a 15-year-old shepherd named Ahmet in a remote, conservative village in North Macedonia who escapes his difficult life through music and a forbidden love. He falls for a girl who is already promised to someone else, and to impress her, he and his brother transform him into “DJ Ahmet” to perform at the village festival, defying his father’s strict expectations and the community’s traditions. The film explores themes of tradition versus modernity, love, and the unifying power of music.
