Duck Tales: A Double Bill

October 16 & 17 @ 7pm
October 18 & 19 @ 2pm

Ducks, Drama, and Destiny: Perth Theatre’s Must-See Weekend

Get ready for a quacking good time at Studio Theatre Perth! This October, we’re serving up not one, not two, but three delicious theatrical treats: two one-act plays and a brand-new film from the Perth Youth Players.

First up, Jean Lenox Toddie’s A Little Something for the Ducks. Two widowed seniors meet by a pond, and what begins as an argument over duck-feeding rules quickly evolves into a tender, funny meditation on aging, companionship, and life’s small pleasures. Joanna McAuley-Treffers and Martin Treffers spar, flirt, and philosophize in a performance that proves you’re never too old for second chances—or chicken livers.

Then, David Mamet’s Duck Variations puts George and Emil on a park bench with nothing but ducks and opinions. Their birdwatching banter spirals into a sharp, hilarious, and oddly profound riff on life, death, and the baffling beauty of existence. Mamet’s crackling dialogue takes flight—by the end, you’ll never look at ducks the same way again.

And as a bonus? Perth Youth Players present The Prophecy, a film created, written, and performed by the town’s rising stars.

Catch the magic Oct. 16–19. Tickets at ticketsplease.ca or email boxoffice@studiotheatreperth.com.

King Henry retorts “It’s going to be a jungle of a day: if I start growling now, I’ll never last.” Eleanor and Henry’s three juvenile sons are vying and scheming for the crown, willing to do anything to get it, whilst a likewise young King of France skulks around the castle in order stirring the pot of their discontent. We Lend a Hand

Please note: In order to accommodate travel times and to ensure all guests are available for both screenings, we have changed our show times to 1pm and 5 pm for this film.

We Lend a Hand: The Forgotten Story of the Ontario Farmerettes is a documentary which reveals the true and forgotten story of the Ontario Farm Service Force. It put 40,000 volunteer teenage girls to work between 1941 and 1952, arriving from different parts of Ontario and Quebec to many locations in Southwestern Ontario. They were called The Farmerettes. Their job: to ensure critical food production during the most perilous period of modern history.

With no prior farming experience, their hardships were tremendous. For long months, they worked under relentless weather conditions and schedules. Yet they single-handedly managed to produce hundreds of thousands of tons of food that were shipped off to the frontlines to feed starving European populations and even prisoners of war.

Through reenactments and unique archival images, We Lend a Hand: The Forgotten Story of Ontario Farmerettes recounts the story of these magnificent young women, now in their late 90s, bringing back their most cherished memories while reminding us – perhaps for the last time – that service comes in many forms.

Stay for the panel discussion and learn more about this forgotten part of Ontario’s history.

Our panel guests will include:
-Producer/Director: Colin Field
-Historian: Bonnie Sitter
-Farmerette: Mary Loucks (Westport)
-Special Guest; Inge Moyer Vaui (Inverary)

Mary Macpherson Loucks – Farmerette
“At 94, I didn’t expect to watch something that filled me with such delight and pride. Bonnie and Colin have done us old Farmerettes proud”.

Fallen Heroes

General Admission: $20

Join us at Studio Theatre Perth for a moving presentation of Fallen Heroes, a powerful documentary that explores Canada’s role in Afghanistan.

Over 40,000 members of the Canadian Armed Forces served during the 14-year campaign—Canada’s longest war. For five years, Canada alone was responsible for security in the most volatile region of the country. Our soldiers were punching far above their weight, earning Canada an important seat at the table and immeasurable respect from NATO allies.

Canada lost 159 soldiers and 4 civilians, and three times that number returned home with visible wounds. Countless more carried moral and psychological injuries.

Yet, despite these sacrifices, few Canadians fully understand why we were in Afghanistan and why it mattered. Fallen Heroes sheds light on this little-known chapter of our history. The film also serves as the foundation for a 10-part documentary series, preserving these stories for future generations.
