CALLING for One-Act Plays
for October 2025

As Artistic Director for Studio Theatre Perth I am considering one-act plays to mount for October 2025, one of which will be entered into the Eastern Ontario Drama League One Act Festival, this coming November in Merrickville.

If you have a one-act play to put forward for consideration, I’d like to know about it.

Please forward a copy of the play, the publishing company to whom we would purchase performance rights and a short, intriguing synopsis. The synopsis should include a description that includes the genre(s), suitable audience, any cautions to the audience and, be written in a tone to persuade the targeted audience.

I will compile these submissions for consideration.
From that list some titles will move to a small committee to be read and considered in detail.
Finally, two play titles will be chosen and will be included in our 2025 season.

PLEASE NOTE:

You may submit a play title with the above information

1) recommending the play only OR
2) recommending the play with an additional pitch that puts you in the Director role.

At this time in the selection of these one-acts, there is no prejudice for or against either type of proposal.

If you submit a proposal with yourself as Director of that play, you will not be included in this reading committee.

Directors of the One Act play going into the EODL Festival for 2025 should expect a higher degree of consultative involvement with the Artistic Director and others and as it represents our entire theatre going forward.
