Maureen O’Brien
From early childhood I have painted with passion. My paintings expressed my creative tendencies, first with brush, then pallet knife and back to brush once again. I am interested in the application of paint to surface, for the sheer joy of watching the forms created by colour, contrast and texture take shape.
In 1974 I studied Colour Theory at the Banff School of Art in British Columbia. In 1985 I studied the Peter Germont in Ottawa learning Photo Realism Landscape Painting for 8 years.
In 1993 I graduate from Carleton University in Ottawa with a BA in Art History.
From 2000-2015 I taught art to grade 7 and 8 in Toronto.
I have shown my work throughout the area as a member of the RLAA.
