How to AuditionThe audition will be a cold read, using particular scenes from the play.  There is no reason to prepare anything for the audition.  There is no reason to book an appointment. Please attend the audition at the start time of 7 PM. Call backs will involve a musical and choreo audition.

Synopsis Waiting for the Parade takes place on the Home Front, during World War II, in Calgary. Through a series of 24 slice-of-life vignettes, war time songs and presentational monologues, five women share their wartime experience, as they assist with the war effort. Together they struggle, argue, sing, drink and dance, and learn to cooperate in surviving a defining moment in Canadian history.
Cast required FIVE FEMALES aged 20-55 years; some singing and dancing will be required, although this is NOT a musical theatre piece.
Rehearsals Will be held primarily during evenings from 6:45-9:00 Tuesdays and Thursdays, and some Sunday afternoons 1-4, later this spring. The start date of the rehearsal period will be negotiated once the cast is assembled.

Notes

Note that this play will be performed during the week of Canada’s observance of the the 80th Anniversary of V.E. Day, May 8th, 2025.

MIKE IRVIN

Mike is a retired broadcast production veteran whose 43-year career includes TV & Radio production, along with a 21-year span of teaching part-time in the Algonquin College Radio Broadcasting and Theatre Arts program. His passion for radio performance has garnered several awards and recognition from industry peers and students. As Regional Production Manager at Rogers Radio, he helmed a 6-person team serving the Ottawa, Kingston and Halifax markets. He has directed various productions including commercial and news features, music specials, and podcasts.
